As the phrases “Global Ocean Center City” and “Marine Culture and Spirit” reverberate across Shenzhen—a vibrant, modern coastal metropolis—the Shenzhen Art Museum, with its focus on “highlighting Shenzhen and urban themes,” harnesses its rich collection to curate a captivating fusion of art and the sea. This creative synergy culminates in the “Deep Blue Variations” exhibition, a harmonious ode to the ocean’s cultural and artistic resonance.
2024年，“深蓝变奏曲：水的多元视界”在深圳美术馆亮相，而2025年，“深蓝变奏曲II：‘我’与海的9个故事”又如约而至。这一次，我们从深圳美术馆的典藏作品中精心遴选出50余件作品，它们涵盖油画、版画、水彩、综合材料等多种艺术形式。本次展览以“故事”作为叙事的脉络，深入探讨人类与海洋之间深邃而复杂的关系。这里有8个动人的故事，它们有的讲述着海洋在人类生活物质层面的深刻影响，像是渔业里渔人与大海的博弈、旅途中我们邂逅的滨海风光、餐桌上海鲜带来的美妙滋味；有的则深入到精神层面，艺术创作灵感从海洋的波澜中迸发，哲学思考在海浪的低语里沉淀，情感寄托于无垠的海面之上。这些艺术品就像一把把钥匙，打开了人类与海洋跨越时空对话的大门。它们引发观众对“人与海如何对话”这一命题的深深思考，让公众与海洋文化之间的情感联结愈发深厚，产生强烈的共鸣。而第9个故事，是留给你的。我们诚挚地邀请您走进展览现场，与艺术相拥，与海洋对话，与时空共舞，与我们交换属于你的独特故事 ，共同谱写这首深蓝变奏曲。
In 2024, “Deep Blue Variations: Water’s Many Faces” made its debut at the Shenzhen Art Museum. Now, in 2025, “Deep Blue Variations II: Nine Stories of the Sea and Us” arrives as promised. This time, we’ve meticulously selected over 50 artworks from the museum’s collections, spanning oil paintings, prints, watercolors, and mixed media. The exhibition uses stories as its narrative thread, exploring the profound and intricate relationship between humanity and the sea.
Within the exhibition are eight captivating tales. Some narrate the sea’s deep impact on human life, such as the struggle between fishermen and the ocean, the coastal vistas encountered on journeys, and the delightful flavors of seafood on our tables. Others delve into the spiritual realm, where inspiration for art bursts forth from the ocean’s waves, philosophical reflections settle in the whispers of the tide, and emotions are entrusted to the boundless sea. These artworks serve as keys, unlocking a dialogue across time and space between humanity and the ocean. They provoke deep contemplation on the theme of “How do humans converse with the sea?” and strengthen the emotional bond between the public and marine culture, evoking a profound resonance.

深圳美术馆始终坚持围绕学术定位展开收藏，多年来逐渐形成以中国画名家经典收藏、精品版画、当代油画、深圳本土艺术、深圳摄影为主要板块的收藏特色。习近平总书记在给中国美术馆的老专家老艺术家回信中强调：“在高质量收藏、高水平利用、高品质服务上下功夫”。藏品是立馆之本，是美术馆开展学术研究、展览策划、教育推广、对外交流等各项工作的重要基础。高质量收藏更是为美术馆专业化建设、高质量发展不断蓄力。深圳美术馆在“立足本土、面向世界，立足时代、面向未来”的新学术定位下，打造了全新的“美在斯”深圳美术馆典藏系列展。“美在斯”源自深圳美术馆所藏、书画名家程十发先生于1986年题赠本馆的书法作品《美在于斯》，寓意美好的事物在此汇聚。此系列将依托馆藏资源，深挖不同板块藏品的学术价值，不定期策划相关展览，为引领社会风尚、传承文化发展汇聚新动能，推动新时代美术馆事业发展迈向新阶段。
Shenzhen Art Museum has consistently focused on collecting in alignment with its academic objectives, gradually establishing a distinctive collection that encompasses classic works by renowned Chinese painters, fine printmaking, contemporary oil paintings, local art from Shenzhen, and photography from the region. In his reply to a letter by veteran experts and artists from the National Art Museum of China, President Xi Jinping called for “painstaking efforts on the part of the museum to improve the quality of its collection, promote its utilization level of artworks, and provide better services.”Collections serve as the cornerstone of a museum, providing a vital foundation for its academic research, exhibition curation, educational outreach, and international exchanges. The pursuit of high-quality collections is instrumental in fostering the museum’s professional advancement and sustainable high-quality development. Under its refreshed academic mandate of “Rooted in the Local, Facing the World; Anchored in the Present, Looking to the Future” Shenzhen Art Museum has launched a new “Here Unfolds the Beauty” Exhibition Series of Shenzhen Art Museum Collections. The title “Here Unfolds the Beauty” is inspired by a calligraphic piece, “Here Is Unfolding the Beauty,” gifted to the museum in 1986 by the esteemed artist Cheng Shifa, symbolizing the convergence of beauty within these walls. This series will leverage the museum’s extensive collection, delving deeply into the academic significance of its various segments, and will periodically curate exhibitions to foster new energies in guiding social ethos and sustaining cultural heritage, thereby propelling the museum sector into a new era of advancement.
